Outside the CAB - Mon. 24 Sept. 2012

CAB  Sound Recording

Date:

11.30 am - 11.45 am -  Mon. 24 Sept. '12

Team members :
Panos / Jon / Bruno

Location:
20 m to the left of the CAB entrance ( POV: as you walk out of the CAB).

Objective :
Record the sounds from a position outside the CAB for approximately  45 seconds.

 Notes:

Bruno - regular sneezes
Panos - giving instructions / Cig lighter noises
Jon -     taking notes/ mostly quiet/ noise of pen to paper

MAIN SOUNDS:

RAIN
/ TRAFFIC

To the left, the sound is more pronounced as this is closer to the ring road
and roundabout with the constant traffic adding to the overall sound stage.

To the right , the sound is more uniform.
there is also the noise from the lower part of the ring road traffic
that is filtered through the  CS building

Centre :
Mixture of the above  two sound sources.
Slight bias to the more localized sound of rain dripping
off the building's  balustrade above our observation point.

Peripheral sounds :

Delivery Trolley being wheeled across the  courtyard/outside area.
Despite the rain the sound is carried and reverberated.

Umbrellas being open/ closed

Men's footsteps  heavier than women's
Women's footsteps in the higher registers and easier to discern

The combination of the rain with the traffic produces
a different sound as to that of traffic in dry weather.
There are higher frequencies and  dynamics to the general dull roar of
traffic on a dry road.
